What the Notarised Translation Does — and What It Does Not Do
Under Article 81 of the Fundamentals of Legislation on the Notariat, a Russian notary certifies the signature of a diploma-holding translator registered with that notary — the signature, not the accuracy of the text and certainly not the medical content. Our translators are registered that way, so every notarised translation we deliver comes in that form.
What that gets you is a faithful Russian rendering of what your record says. What it does not get you is an opinion, and here that matters more than on most documents. We do not map a foreign vaccine onto a Russian one, do not say whether a course is complete, do not set your record against the Russian immunisation schedule, and give no medical view at all. A doctor and the receiving institution do that; we render the words.
A Translated Certificate Does Not Replace an Examination
This is the limit worth knowing before you spend anything. A school, an employer’s occupational health service or a migration office may take your translated record and be satisfied — or send you for an examination in Russia anyway, whatever the certificate says. That decision is theirs, and a translation does not override it. Ask the office receiving the file which it will be, before you order.

These are health records, and it is fair to ask what happens to the scans. The only people who can open them are the coordinator handling your order, the translator assigned to it and, where the order needs it, the notary. Which one you are in changes who you should be asking.
Do You Need an Apostille on the Original?
An apostille goes on in the country that issued the document, before it reaches us — never in Russia, never by us. There is a wrinkle particular to this topic: a certificate from a private clinic is in many countries a private paper rather than a public document, and an apostille may not be available for it at all. Whether it is possible is for the issuing country’s designated authority; whether it is wanted is for the Russian office receiving the file.

Why can't I just use the medical certificate from my home country?
Because a Russian office has to read it in Russian, and to know the rendering is faithful. That is what the notarised form provides: a diploma-holding translator signs, and a Russian notary certifies that signature under Article 81. Whether a particular school or office wants that form is still for them to say — ask before you order.
Will the Russian school accept my child if I have a notarized medical translation?
It may. It may also send your child to a Russian clinic for its own examination regardless of what the certificate says — that choice belongs to the school, and a translated foreign record does not take it away.
Do I need an apostille on my medical certificate before it is translated?
That depends on the country. Certificates from private clinics are often private documents rather than public ones, and an apostille may not be available at all. Ask the issuing country's designated authority whether it is possible, and the Russian office receiving the file whether it is wanted.
What if my child's vaccination course is not complete? Will the translation be rejected?
We translate the record as it stands, gaps included. Whether anything is missing, and what follows from that, is for a doctor and for the institution receiving the file — not for a translation, and not for us.
