From and into Georgian translation

We have been performing translations of various complexity levels since 2001. Over these years we have taken part in many translation projects, many of which have included the Georgian language. Most of our translations have been from Russian into Georgian, but we have had other pairs translate from English into Georgian, from Georgian into Turkish, Persian, and other languages. Fortunately, we have established friendly relations with some translators and whole translation bureaus in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia, so we are able to translate almost any language pair through Georgian.

In each area of specialization, we try to involve not just any translator-philologist, but a specialist with significant experience in the particular field. For example, a musician can hardly translate a charter or a non-disclosure agreement. A builder or a mechanic will be useless in translating an article about a toothache. Apart from knowing a foreign language, Georgian in this case, you also have to be fluent in a huge range of specific terms which will need to be used and applied in the project you are defining. In addition, a non-native speaker of Georgian is unlikely to be able to translate well into Georgian, and translation from Georgian is best done by a Russian-speaking translator who has the best idea of the terms or vocabulary to accurately describe the information being translated.

What do you order most often?

If we exclude purely notarial translations of documents, the most technical orders we received were for the labelling and packaging of Russian products to be delivered to Georgia. We have translated hundreds of labels for a wide range of confectionery products, cereals, and various types of sunflower oil over the years. Powers of attorney and consent to legal actions between Georgian and Russian citizens have also been frequently translated. Several times we have seen medical extracts from hospitals in the Republic of Georgia. There have been translations of multilingual instructions from English into Georgian, among others. When it comes to technical translation, the Georgian language was hardly ever used. Most technicians, for example, use Russian rather than Georgian when commissioning brewing equipment. This is not surprising, since Russian is familiar to a large part of Georgia’s population.

Interesting facts about GEORGIA AND ITS language

Interesting facts about Georgia

GEORGIA IS NOT CALLED GEORGIA AT ALL
At least not by Georgians. They call their country Sakartvelo. The term is made up of two words: Kartvel refers to the inhabitants of the historical Kartli Iberian region. The addition of the prefix and ending Sa…o (Sa-kartvel-o) speaks of the area these inhabitants inhabit (Kartli).
The origins of the name “Georgia” are unclear. In English, Italian and Spanish, the country is called “Georgia”, in French “Géorgie”, and in Russian “Georgia”. In earlier times, the name “Grusinien” was also common in German-speaking countries, a term derived from the Slavic language.

Some facts about the language you probably didn’t know

Have you met such a symbol ღ in social networks in girls?

For example, ღ Jane ღ.

Some use this sign as a symbol of the heart, not even realizing that it is actually a Georgian letter. Which is pronounced as “g” in the Ukrainian manner.

The Georgian alphabet is recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world. Just look at it: the letters are like lace წ რ ტ ო პ დ ფ ჰ ჯ ზ.

The Georgian alphabet, like the Georgian language, is different from most European alphabets.

Interesting facts about the Georgian alphabet:

  1. Georgian is one of the oldest languages on earth. In written form, the language appeared around 430 AD on an inscription in a church in Palestine.
  2. Georgian writing has no accents, capital and uppercase letters
  3. Georgian is considered to be one of the most difficult languages to learn. The grammatical structure of Georgian is more complex than other Euro-Asian languages
  4. There are no masculine and feminine genders in Georgian.
  5. In the Georgian alphabet, the number of letters is the same as the number of sounds. For example, ტ (sounds like the English sound [t]) and თ (also “t”, but pronounced as if with a huff).
  6. Georgians use the twenty-decimal number system. That is, to name a number, you have to count how many twenties it consists of. For example, 48 is two-twenty-eight.
  7. In one of the most famous Georgian works “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin” there is a word “vefkhvtmbrdgvneli” (tearing the tiger) consisting of 11 consonant letters in a row, but in everyday speech this record belongs to another word of 8 consonants in a row “gvprttskvnis” (exfoliate, clean)

This is such an amazing and beautiful Georgian language.
